Students comments from previous photo-worshops

Hi Bruce,

Please find attached the first 2 images - the second 2, which are along
the 3-picture-idea will follow later tonight.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated - I don't think I have enough
images to make a story, but am very happy with what I feel I learnt on
the course.
I've turned the first model we photographed black & white, and tried to
bring out her freckles a little - I've also added a few simple graphic
elements - please say if you think it's not needed.

I'm hoping to hire the perch studio to do some testing - and then may
well be back on 1 of your testing courses with a load of questions!...

Thanks again...

Speak later

David

Hi Bruce!
How are you doing? Hopefully fine!
I'm now back in Estonia and anxious to accomplish all of my ideas that I got while I was in London (thanks to you I've got quite many!)
Taking part of your workshop was fantastic and it absolutely exceeded all my expectations. I had the time of my life and it's hard to put in words how thankful I am. Your team was so friendly and I feel very lucky that I had the chance to meet all of them. Thank you so much.
Are there any pictures up in the Internet already? I'm really looking forward to see them.
I'm going to attach only one group picture right now but I promise I'll send some more soon.
You said something about sending you the best shots I took. Could you specify (how many, by what time etc)
Take care of yourself Bruce.
With love,
Hanna

  Bruce,

Just to let you know that I enjoyed the workshop and I thought it was very well organized
and your team is very professional. It has been a good learning experience and it brought my
focus back to fashion photography. As well as gaining invaluable advice from the sessions, it
was a great way to supplement additional images for my portfolio.

 Best regards,
 Alex

 Bruce,

I would like to thank you (and your excellent team) for a thoroughly
enjoyable and invaluable learning experience over the last couple of
days.  It has exceeded all expectations.

Personally I feel the workshop has improved my confidence and the
shots I was producing at the end were noticeably better than when I
 started.

I will definitely be looking to attend some more of your workshops in
the future and will also send you copies of the shots taken on this
one when I get them burnt to CD.

 Regards

Bruce,

Hi. I noticed that you will be teaching the class again in October. Is
it possible that I could submit my projects for that class instead?

I am going through some unexpected personal problems (wife probably
losing job) and really have not been able to focus on the course.
Hopefully by then everything will be sorted out and I will be able to
jump in with the time!  it  deserves and enjoy it a lot more.

So far the contents of the course are exceeding my expectations and
your feedback has been timely and excelent.

Let me know if we can work out the schedule arrangement and thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Federico

Hello Bruce

Initially I was reluctant to join the workshop, as I did not have much confidence in group workshops. Little did I know...
Bruce’s enthusiasm, humor and professional know-how miraculously turn my early Saturday morning into a highly interactive day filled with tips, hints and just the right amount of supervision!  Bruce knows his stuff and certainly has his way in letting you know what he thinks you should focus on. I highly recommend his workshops. They are also great value for money!

Hiya Bruce

It was really good hearing from you, I appreciate the time you put into the feedback. I believe you have helped get me to focus in on a few important details!

I’m quite exited about all of this, since your e-mail which coincided with my reading of a few fashion photography articles, I think you have opened my eyes to a fresh perspective, well it’s more of the ritual of thinking through, planning, and the development of consistency in story / message, which is funnily enough the backbone structure for what I do as an brand director in Leo Burnett, even though it’s not creative that I’m involved in, it’s the same concept…

I have quite a number queries that are formulating in mind as I internalize your feedback (which I believe is spot on!) MOST IMPORTANTLY I will continue to push in order to ensure I GET ON WITH IT, I’ve committed to myself on shooting stories as opposed to just whatever crops up 2 seconds before I click the shutter! (I know there’s always room for impulsive shots, but the focus for me now is to be able to produce controlled and consistent work as you recommended. I will start with the WHITE assignment. I like that; I have a few interpretations in mind, just need to decide on the direction…I’m assuming there’s no creative formula on the idea, but usually the photographer comes up with direction or it’s conceived with stylist, client…etc

I also like BAREFACE idea; I’ll contact Beverly to see how far I can go with them…

Continuity is a very interesting concept, as having gone thru hundreds of magazines, each photographer and stylist and magazine seem to have a different way of creating continuity thru the shoot (I speak of the top notch stuff of course!). Also, creative shoot direction is intriguing, almost still feels overwhelming, as I seem allergic to clichés (but I’m sure I’ll crack the sensation in due course!)

I think I’ll start with natural light and gradually build up to flash, this way I’ll remain focused on 1 BIG objective at a time…

Once again, thanks a million for your support, it means quite alot.

Hi Bruce,

It was a pleasure to meet with you, even if it was for a short time.

I have heard only great things about your course. I had one of my
trainees with you and she learnt a lot.

Hi Bruce

The workshop was an eye-opener for me.  Bruce’s style and direction gave me a complete freedom over developing my own style yet enhancing my photographic techniques and skills.  After his workshop, my rapport building skills and directing the model developed very rapidly.

Cheers,

Toufic
